This Month's Mission Focus
| The current MPC mission focus is the Assistance Center of Towson Churches (ACTC). Together with 47 other area churches we support our neighbors in need with food, financial assistance to avoid eviction and power turn-off, and lunches and other services for people experiencing homelessness. Pew envelopes are available for your contributions. | |

| Enjoy a Quiet Walk in the Woods
The Nature Trail/ Meditation Trail in the woods behind the church has been resurfaced with wood chips and six meditation stations have been added. These facilitate the walker's appreciation of the beauty of creation though all the senses. Take a few minutes any time to enjoy the beauty of the forest.

Origins ...
Why does an itty-bitty church in the suburbs of Baltimore bear the grandiose name "Maryland Presbyterian Church"? It all started with Maryland Avenue Presbyterian Church, which was situated near North Avenue in Baltimore until 1955. Here is an exeprt fromThe Christian Observer, dated January 26, 1955:
After having been in existence for over sixty-seven years, Maryland Avenue Church has had to close its doors, due to the neighborhood having entirely changed, the loss of many members by death, moving to the suburbs, and other things over which we had no control. The last service was the celebration of the Lord’s Supper on the morning of Sunday, January 2 … The proceeds of the sale of the property are to be transferred to the Potomac Presbytery, Synod of Virginia, to be used for the erection of a new church in the vicinity of Baltimore as soon as a suitable site can be found. It is to bear in its name the word ‘Maryland.’
The communion table we use in worship every week came from the original Maryland Avenue Presbyterian Church.
At MPC we continue to move forward in our journey, always looking for new and better ways to live out our calling to be disciples of Jesus.
