Stay-Tuned: Habitat Workdays Coming Soon! Habitat for Humanity will be welcoming volunteers to the Woodbourne-McCabe neighborhood in the very near
future. Three new rehab properties have been acquired and are being prepped for volunteers. Meanwhile, volunteers will be needed to work on three homes in the nearby Pen Lucy neighborhood this summer. These homes include one rehab and two brand new homes, one of which will be ADA* compliant. So keep your hammers, screwdrivers and tape measures at the ready! And if you can’t volunteer, you will have the opportunity to help with funds from your pockets.
Even though Habitat’s Volunteer Program had to shut down for one year due to the pandemic, contractors continued to work on two homes in Woodbourne- McCabe: 504 and 755 McCabe Avenue. Before the pandemic hit, the North Baltimore Presbyterians
committed to sponsoring a Faith House (a Habitat program giving faith-based organizations the opportunity to sponsor the rehabbing of a house, both monetarily
and with volunteer labor) and donated $50,000 toward the rehabilitation of 755 McCabe. We are pleased to report that both houses have been completed and on June 8, 2021, a House Blessing was held to welcome the new family to 755 McCabe.
Finally, Habitat Restores throughout Maryland, including the one in Timonium, are in dire need of volunteers. If interested, please contact Mary Jo Zimbro. These are stores that sell donated items, both new and used, including furniture, kitchen cabinets, paint, tools, etc.
