Simon is a youth member of MPC, a student at UMBC. He spent this past summer (2007) in China participating in The Research Experience for Undergraduates at Ocean University of China, Laoshan Campus, in Qingdao, Shandong Province, China. He and several other American students were there with a research scholarship from the National Science Foundation.
Simon spent four days in Bejing during which visited the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden city, the Ming Dynasty Tombs and the Summer Palace. During his laboratory experience in Qingdao, he worked with amplified DNA for gel electrophoresis.
