The Session
The Session is the governing body of the church. The body is composed of elders, elected by the congregation and ordained for this ministry. Elders serve on the session for three year terms. The Pastor is the moderator, or chairperson, of the Session. The role and procedures of the session are specified in The Book of Order, the "rule book" of the Presbyterian Church (USA).
The session also acts as a Board of Trustees that is legally reponsible for the affairs of the congregation.
