Dear Members and Friends of Maryland Presbyterian Church,
The Pastoral Nominating Committee consisting of Mary Jo Zimbro (chair), Carol Mason (co-
chair), Aliecia Mason Hale, Joe Wright and Glenn Wells has been working diligently for the last
two months to select a Temporary Supply Pastor. After a thoughtful and prayerful discernment
process, we are very excited to announce that Rev. McKenna Lewellen has accepted the position
and signed a one-year contract beginning June 19, 2022.

Rev. McKenna Lewellen is a queer and feminist Presbyterian pastor, based in the Baltimore area.
For the last five years, she has served on the staff of The Center, a mission and community
engagement initiative of the Presbytery of Baltimore.
McKenna is a graduate of Rhodes College, a PCUSA-affiliated school in Memphis, TN, and of
the Boston University School of Theology, and brings her knowledge of environmental, feminist,
trauma, and disability theologies with her to ministry. She is passionate about equipping
churches to work for justice and to be anchors in their broader community, creative worship, and
finding ways to gather around tables to eat together.
Formed both by her years and family in Memphis, and by her people and movements in Boston,
she never misses a chance to gather people around a table to eat, to share food, and to show off
her hybrid love of Southern/Cajun flavors and New England lesbian urban farmer-made soup.
Although McKenna’s official start date is June 19, we had already arranged for her to substitute
preach on June 12. Therefore, please join us for worship on June 12 to welcome McKenna as
we embark on this next chapter of our ministry.
Sincerely,
Pastoral Nominating Committee
