Offering of Letters May 19th
Better Nutrition, Better Tomorrow
We will be focusing on hunger issues all May at MPC. First we will be doing a food/funds drive for The Assistance Center of Towson (ACTC). Learn more about the work of ACTC by visiting their website at actconline.info or by picking up a brochure on the table in the narthex/link. We have been asked to bring: Baked Beans, Rice, Packaged Potatoes and mixed Peas and Carrots. Boxes for your food are in the narthex. Pew envelopes are provided to enable you to contribute toward the work of this great partnership of Towson area churches.
Additionally this month we will be writing letters to our congressional representatives and senators to advocate for people who are hungry both in the US and around the world. We do this with the help of Bread for the World. Visit their website, bread.org, for more detailed information on this year’s topic. Sample letters can be found here and on the table in the narthex. Letters will be collected for a special Offering of Letters on Sunday, May 19 when we will celebrate Hunger Sunday during worship.
Your letters will also be your “ticket” to join the Mission Team for a special lunch after worship on May 19th. J. Wright Witcher leads a team of Mission folk to prepare the food that day, so do sign up so we can plan.
Finally, Pastor David will be organizing a group to hand-deliver our letters to our congress people in Washington, DC on Monday, June 3rd. See the sign up for that for details. It is also on the table in the narthex.
Please plan to be a part of our efforts to help our neighbors in need, both near and far.
