To inaugurate this work in our church, our session and staff have identified a community of which all of us are aware, but perhaps have not had the chance to engage with deeply…Bridges Montessori parents and teachers. We share our building with them, and hear their delightful chatter during the week, but we sense that there is more to learn from each other as we consider how we might partner with them in the future. To that end, we will initiate a listening campaign on January 30th and 31st. We will provide coffee and treats in the fellowship hall during Bridges’ drop-off and pick-up times in order to cultivate a cozy environment for listening. We will sit with interested parents and hear their stories, their hopes for the lives of their children, and their concerns about raising kids in 2019. This is an opportunity for us to strengthen our ties to this community and to discern if there are any action steps we can take to help foster our relationship with them. I have had the privilege to be a part of several listening campaigns over the past year, and it has been such a joy to discover how this simple tool can bring about deeply satisfying relationships and significant institutional change. We are created to be in relationship with one another, and listening is the key. If you are interested in learning more about what our listening campaign will look like and how to hold a relational meeting, we will have a training on January 19th after church. Lunch will be provided. Please join us as we embark on this exciting new adventure.
