What is Easter, after all, but the triumph of hope over despair, the  opening of a door thought to be sealed forever and the recognition that God was present in empowering ways that lead toward the creation of new ways of being together in supportive community.  Sometimes we see flashes of Easter on massive scales like what the world witnessed in Tahrir Square in Cairo.  As we move through the season of Lent we will work hard to support relief efforts in Japan with the conviction that out of all the destruction, love and hope will triumph.  As you engage in the self-reflection that this season invites, you may find that something changes inside you, and makes possible something which you thought could never be.  These are Easter moments, full of grace and truth.    The miracles of healing and econciliation are more common than the news reports would have us believe. Sometimes we are the recipients.  Sometimes we help to make them happen.  But that doesn’t make them any less miraculous or wonderful.  Christ is risen and among us.  And Easter is all around us for those who know what to look for.   Alleluia!

This is certainly a resurrection moment in the Arab World. It was not easy for the first Christians to adjust to the new realities of their lives. The arabs will also go through their own trials and tribulations. But the new element in the middle east is HOPE.
