This year, MPC is once again collecting for ACTC’s Thanksgiving Basket Drive! Like most things
happening in 2020, some things about the program are a little different this year, and some
things will be familiar:
Thanksgiving Baskets for Woodbourne-McCabe Neighbors:
This year, we will be collecting and delivering the baskets to our neighbors in Woodbourne-
McCabe. We are hoping to collect the largest number of baskets yet – can we get to 50? That is
What is the same?
There will be 4 grocery stores participating again this year. At these stores, all bags
will be packed in advance and can be picked up at the Customer Service counter. This includes
the reusable bag. If you are picking up multiple bags, please call in advance.
The items needed for each bag are listed below.
What is different?
Well, a lot! Since we’re not worshipping at the church each Sunday, there are alternative ways
and times for you to get your baskets to the church:
Drop your baskets off at the church on Saturday, November 7 or Saturday, November 14
from 10am to 2pm each day.
Have your items picked up on Friday, November 13! Contact Carol Mason to have your
baskets picked up at your home.
Broadmead residents can have their baskets picked up on Wednesdays at the Broadmead
Gatherings (weather permitting).
Contact Lorraine Eakin, Pastor David or Carol Mason to arrange for an alternate drop-off
time at the church prior to November 14.
If you aren’t able to purchase baskets at the grocery store but would like to contribute financially,
you can send checks to Leslie Erickson to purchase items for the baskets ($23 per basket). The
deadline to send checks to her is November 7.
If you need a receipt, please let her know!
Finally, we will ask for volunteers to sign up to deliver Thanksgiving Baskets on Monday,
November 23 and Tuesday, November 24.
Look for a signup in the Midweek Emails starting in November.
Thank you as always for your support for this important ministry – in a time when the need has
never been greater for many Maryland families, we are blessed to be able to carry on this
tradition at MPC.
