2018 Offering of Letters May 20 For Such a Time as This... You are no doubt aware that funding for vital domestic and international anti-hunger and anti-poverty programs is again at risk of deep cuts. So Bread for the World is asking us this year to hand write our letters and urge Congress to invest and protect key programs that help improve the lives of men, women, and children facing hunger and poverty in the United States and around the world. The letter-writing campaign, participated in by thousands in the U.S., has a record of being very successful. According to BforW, “the 2017 Offering of Letters was victorious in securing $1 billion in supplemental aid for near-famines in Somalia, Yemen, South Sudan, and northeastern Nigeria.” Churches and Charities alone cannot feed all the hungry people. Sooooo...it is necessary for us to reach out to Congress to help. Click here to see the sample letter and write it at home and then bring it on the 20th and we will bless it during the worship service. Or, come and participate in the letterwriting after the service. We will also have printed letters for you to sign if you chose. Also, we provide the addressed envelopes. And we will not be stamping them this year because we plan to deliver them to D.C. It’s Your Money Your Reward! Our resident renowned chef, J. Wright, will be cooking pasta again for lunch and when your letter has been written you may sit down and devour! The Mission group will be serving.
